Jones And Cochran Win “Shop” Bragging Rights
August 16, 2009

They hang around the shop all week firing salvos at each other, working some strut, and talking big. On Sunday morning it's time to settle some friendly scores. A bass club with no name from the Mount Pleasant, NC area travels to a different lake each week to quiet down the talk.

Glenn Jones, owner of GMax Automotive in Mt. Pleasant, and partner Mark Cochran have six days to brag after winning the most recent event on Badin Lake August 16th. While it was a tough day for catching much from the waters, they did manage to score over seven pounds.

“We sit around and talk big all week,” laughed Jones at the weigh in. “Then we come out here to settle up.” Those who don't win lose out on $20, the cost to each man to compete. This week's winning brag was worth $240 in the winner-take-all competition. Seven boats and carrying twelve anglers competed.

The group uses either a three or five-fish limit, depending on the length of the event. This day they used the lesser keep-number. They fished from about 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM from the Circle Drive Access.

The group will fish High Rock from the Dutch Second Creek Wildlife Ramp this coming Sunday. The blast off will be at 6:30. Although it's mostly friends who join in the weekly activity, if you have questions, contact Jones at 704-436-2024.
